We at Hollywood, Interrupted love responding to "retraction" demands and opening them up for mockery. However, in this case, we are running former LA Weekly news editor Alan Mittelstaedt's carefully composed retraction notice uncontested because we believe that he was defamed by Eric "Killer on the Road" Red's publicist, and we hope that he sues her panties off!
Retraction Notice:
A letter posted Hollywood Interrupted on January 23, 2007 contained a false statement about former L.A. Weekly news editor Alan Mittelstaedt. The letter, written by a publicist for The Hitcher screenwriter Eric Red, incorrectly implied that Mittelstaedt's departure from L.A. Weekly was related to the L.A. Weekly's January 16, 2006 cover article on Mr. Red. In fact, Mr. Red never challenged any of the facts in the article by submitting any kind of correction demand after the article was published. Mittelstaedt, who edited the profile on Mr. Red, was fired by the Weekly because the newspaper's new owners wanted to bring in one of their former editors.
Note from Ebner: We don't regret publishing the flack's letter because it is obvious to anyone reading it that she is lying through her teeth about Mittelstaedt and the author of the story in question, Paul Cullum.

Just got the book Hollywood Interruppted and find it fascinating and a good read.
Thanks for showing what freaks these false idols really are. I visit LA once a year to see friends and will go this year with a new perspective.
Great Work!
