As recently reported, after completing his narration gig on Dan Cox's documentary film Running With Arnold, mouthy liberal actor Alec Baldwin has been attempting to pull out of the project, and, via his legal reps, has threatened the filmmakers with a cease and desist notice (PDF).
Interestingly, the legal letter asserts a financial motive (percentage of DVD sales, etc.), rather than a previously stated objection to the content in the film.
From a letter recounting a conversation between a Running With Arnold producer and part time Hamptons resident Alec Baldwin, Hollywood,Interrupted presents the architecture of a deal gone south on the wings of an actor's enormous ego:
According to the letter obtained by Hollywood, Interrupted, Baldwin opened the conversation trying to make nice-nice by requesting an itemized list of the producers' expenses: sound studio rental fee, airfare to New York, hotel bills and other incidentals. He suggested that he wanted to reimburse the filmmakers for their time, trouble and expenses.
Then, the actor shocked the producers, stating that he no longer wanted to be the narrator for the film, despite having already completed the job. Baldwin argued that he had seen part of the film, and did not like what he saw -especially the footage containing Nazi imagery, as described by producers as depicting "totalitarianism in Europe during the 1930's and the alliance with big business."
Baldwin argued that the indirect Nazi analogy to Schwarzenneger was too controversial - even for a political person like himself.
At that point in the conversation, a Running With Arnold producer reminded Baldwin that "[he had] sent Baldwin the narrative script at least a month before the recording session, and had offered to screen a cut of the DVD for him as well."
Baldwin allegedly stated that he was "a busy and important celebrity," and did not have time to watch the film before the recording session.
The producer argued that "the narrative soundtrack had already been laid into the final cut of the film," and reminded the busy, important celebrity that they had pushed the film back nearly two months to satisfy Baldwin's rather busy schedule.
The producer then stressed that "the damages to the project far exceeded the expenses that Baldwin was offering to reimburse; the press was already aware of Baldwin's involvement and screeners were sent to nearly 100 interested sellers/buyers/distributors..." Consequently, the producer argued, "interest was peaked [sic] because of Baldwin's name and involvement in the RWA project."
Also, the producer informed Baldwin that it was impossible to remove his voice because all the sound elements had already been completed.
Baldwin told the producer that he wanted no part of the film. Then, according to the letter, he asked if he had been paid yet. The producer said that payment was pending, but, as a concession to the busy and important celebrity, he offered to remove Baldwin's name from the credits. However, Baldwin clearly stated not to remove his name, then he allegedly said, "Pay me, but I will take a shit all over this film in the press."
The producers paid Baldwin, and then the actor made good on his promised bowel movement in the media.

All in a day's work for a busy and important celebrity

"Busy and important celebrity" ... smoke um if you got um! He must have been referring to 20 years ago; my how time flies. Now, he's just a big, bloated, bag of shit.

They aren't allowing any comments on the Alec Baldwin post at The Huffington Report that you linked to above. How Chicken-Shit!
I had attempted to post this:
What makes Alec Baldwin think he's any more qualified to govern in New York than Arnold is in California? Mr. Baldwin states that Arnold "should be treated fairly" but then continues his attack upon him.
About the documentary, all I'm reading here is a bunch of transparent ass-covering! Go here to read a more balanced version of Alec Baldwin's behavior: (here I attempted to link to this page)The very thought of Baldwin becoming Governer of New York chills me to the bone.

Alec is good in The Departed and Running With Scissors so all you journalists should just let him act and stop thinking that actors are saviors. get a life.
